Elizabeth first sees John in New York City China Townwhere she grocery shops with her co-worker Molly ( Margaret Whitton). She sees him again at a street market in Greenwich Villagewhere she decides against buying an intricately patterned French scarf priced beyond what she was willing to pay. John wins her heart when he eventually produces that scarf and wraps it around her lovingly.
